Dr, Malachi York EL

Dwight York, widely known as Dr. Malachi Z. York El, is an American religious leader, author, and founder of the Nuwaubian movement, a spiritual and cultural organization that emerged in the United States during the late 20th century. Born on June 26, 1945, he became known for combining teachings drawn from African history, Islam, ancient Egypt, mysticism, and science-fiction themes.

Over the years, Dr. York published hundreds of books and lectures covering topics such as African heritage, spirituality, language, cosmology, and self-knowledge. His followers viewed him as a teacher focused on restoring historical and cultural awareness among people of African descent.

He founded several organizations throughout his career, including the United Nuwaubian Nation of Moors, and established a large Egyptian-themed community known as Tama-Re in Georgia.

Dr. York remains a controversial figure. In 2004, he was convicted in the United States on multiple criminal charges related to child abuse and racketeering and was sentenced to prison, where he remains incarcerated. Supporters continue to campaign for his release, while critics and legal authorities point to the seriousness of the convictions.
